A good office cleaning checklist turns “keep the place clean” into specific tasks that someone can see, do and check off. This free, printable checklist covers every main area of a typical office, from the front door to the break room, and suggests how often each task should happen: every visit, weekly, monthly or quarterly.
It is written for office managers, facility managers, property managers and business owners who are setting up cleaning for a new space, checking the work of a current cleaning company, or preparing a scope of work for bids. Blue Oak Solutions, a family-owned commercial cleaning company in Charlotte, NC, plans office cleaning from a list like this one.
Print It, Adjust It, Tick It Off
Print it or save it as a PDF. Use the button below. The printout leaves out the website menus and is sized for standard Letter and A4 paper.
Walk your space and adjust it. Cross out tasks that don’t apply and write in any rooms the list doesn’t cover, such as a lab, showroom or mail room.
Check the frequencies. A box (☐) marks the suggested frequency for each task. Busy offices may need some tasks more often, and small, quiet offices may need them less often. Our guide on how often an office should be cleaned helps you decide.
Tick it off. Check each box when the task is done, and have a second person sign the “Checked by” line, so the sheet doubles as a simple quality check.
☐ = suggested frequency. Tick each box when the task is done. Cross out tasks that don’t apply and add any your space needs.
Swipe the tables sideways to see every column.

How to Use This Checklist with Your Cleaning Company
A checklist is most useful when you and your cleaning company agree on it in writing. Here is how to put it to work:
Bring it to the walkthrough. Walk every area on the list with the cleaning company before they give you an estimate. A walkthrough catches details a floor plan misses, such as a busy side entrance or a break room that gets heavy use.
Turn it into a written scope of work. Your marked-up checklist is the first draft of a scope of work. Our janitorial scope of work template shows how to add the schedule, supplies, building access and quality checks.
Agree on frequencies. Confirm which tasks happen every visit and which are weekly, monthly or quarterly, so every bid covers the same work and the service matches what you expect.
Say who supplies what. Write down who provides paper towels, toilet tissue, hand soap and trash liners, so dispensers don’t run empty.
Ask how the work is checked. Ask about quality checks and supervisory inspections, and agree on one point of contact for questions and missed tasks. Keep the “Checked by” line for your own spot checks.
Review it every quarter. Headcount, layout and the way your team uses the space change over time. Go over the checklist with your cleaning company and adjust it.
This checklist is free to print, copy and share with your team, tenants or clients. If you run a blog, newsletter, association site or property portal, you are welcome to link to it so your readers always get the current version. Copy the code below to add a link to your page.
